The Philippine Revolution, also known as the Philippine War of Independence, was an armed conflict that lasted from 1896 to 1902. It was fought between the Philippines and the colonial authority of Spain.

The revolution was sparked by several factors, including opposition to Spanish colonial rule, desire for independence, and the demand for reforms in the government and society. Led by revolutionary figures such as Emilio Aguinaldo and Andres Bonifacio, the Filipino people fought for their rights and freedom.

The first major battle of the revolution took place on August 30, 1896, in San Juan, a town near Manila. The Philippine revolutionary forces won the battle, but it was just the beginning of a long and bloody war.

The revolutionaries suffered several defeats along the way, including the execution of Bonifacio and the surrender of Aguinaldo in 1901. However, they persevered in their fight, and their efforts paid off when the Treaty of Paris was signed on December 10, 1898, ending the Spanish-American War and granting independence to the Philippines.

To the surprise of the Filipinos, the United States acquired the Philippines from Spain as part of the treaty. This led to the Philippine-American War, which lasted from 1899 to 1902. Despite the efforts of the revolutionaries, the Philippines remained under American colonial rule until 1946.

The Philippine Revolution is a significant event in Philippine history, as it paved the way for the country’s independence and democracy. It is celebrated every year on June 12 as Independence Day, a national holiday in the Philippines.

The revolutionaries who fought for freedom and democracy will always be remembered as heroes in Philippine history. Their sacrifices and bravery laid the foundation for an independent and democratic Philippines.
