Self Care 101: How to Prioritize Your Mental Health as a Lazy Queen

In today’s world, we are constantly bombarded with numerous responsibilities and activities that require our attention. With the busy schedules we keep, it can be difficult to find time for ourselves. In the end, our mental health is what suffers the most. Self-care is the practice of taking care of oneself to achieve a better overall well-being. As a self-proclaimed lazy queen, it can seem challenging to prioritize self-care, but I’m here to show you how it’s possible.

Plan Ahead

One of the first steps to prioritize your mental health is to plan ahead. We tend to put various to-do lists for a day and prioritize them according to their level of urgency, but we almost always forget to prioritize our own needs. In order for a self-care routine to become a part of your regular life, it’s important to schedule it into your calendar as if it were an important meeting. It can be something as simple as taking a relaxing bath or going for a walk in the park, but make sure it’s enough time to rejuvenate your mind.

Establish Boundaries

Another important step in prioritizing your self-care is setting boundaries. Boundaries are there to ensure that your mental health is not compromised in any way. It can be hard to identify what boundaries you need, but some examples are not taking work home, saying ‘no’ when you don’t want to do something, and distancing yourself from negative people. Having boundaries makes it easier to prioritize yourself and show those around you that your mental health is just as important.

Meditation

Meditation is an essential practice for those looking to improve their mental health. It helps reduce stress and improves overall well-being. However, many people are apprehensive about meditating because they think it’s time-consuming, but in reality, all you need is 5-10 minutes a day. Make sure that you find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed and practice focusing only on your breath. Meditation can be a powerful tool in your self-care routine, allowing you to let go of any negative energy and find peace within yourself.

Delegate Tasks

As a lazy queen, the thought of doing it all can be tiring. There’s nothing wrong with delegating tasks to those around you. It can be anything from asking a co-worker for assistance on a project or asking your husband to cook dinner. Delegating tasks allows you to focus on yourself. It may not be a part of your daily self-care routine, but it’s important to know when you need a break and when it’s time to delegate tasks.

In conclusion, prioritizing your mental health is essential to your overall well-being. As a self-proclaimed lazy queen, there are many ways to incorporate self-care into your daily routine. Scheduling self-care activities, setting boundaries, practicing meditation, and delegating tasks are all great ways to ensure that you are taking care of yourself. Remember, being a lazy queen is not an excuse to neglect your self-care routine. Your mental health is just as important as your responsibilities, so don’t be afraid to put yourself first.
