3. b. Mercury
4. a. Nile

How well did you do? If you got all five correct, congratulations! You have a vast knowledge of common facts. But if you didn’t do so well, don’t worry. These questions sometimes test our attention span or whether we don’t have the information.

Let’s take the first question for example. Did you think there were 41 countries in Africa? It’s possible because there was a time when there were only 41 recognized countries in Africa. But as of today, there are 54. So the answer is b. 54.

The second question may be the most recognizable one. But did you know that the “Mona Lisa” painting has a history of theft attempts and the mystery of the smile has puzzled people for centuries?

To answer the third question, did you know that Mercury is only a slightly larger than Earth’s moon? But still what we expected for the one closest to the sun.

As for the fourth question, the Nile is 4,135 miles long, making it the longest river in the world. The Nile is also the primary water source for Egypt and Sudan.

And finally, Canberra became Australia’s capital city in 1927 after it was chosen by the nation’s parliament. This decision led to rivalry between Melbourne, Sydney, and Canberra, all of which had hoped to become the capital city.

So, how much of a common knowledge expert are you? While some of these questions may seem elementary and others may be trick questions, it’s always helpful to learn something new. Test yourself, or better yet, challenge your friends!
