Health Minister Kenya announces new measures to combat rising Covid-19 cases

Health Minister Kenya, Mutahi Kagwe, has announced new measures to combat the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the country. These measures were announced amidst a third wave of Covid-19 infections, which has seen an increase in the number of cases, hospitalization, and deaths. In response to the growing situation, the government has deployed various measures to curb the spread of the virus and increase public awareness.

Lockdown Measures

The Kenyan government has implemented a partial lockdown in five counties in the country which include Nairobi, Kiambu, Kajiado, Nakuru, and Machakos. Within the affected counties, a curfew has been implemented from 8:00 pm to 4:00 am, and all bars and restaurants have been closed. The number of people allowed to attend social gatherings has also been limited to wane the spread of the virus.

Vaccination Campaigns

In addition to the lockdown measures, the ministry has continued to prioritize vaccination campaigns and has pledged to vaccinate 10 million people by December 2021. So far, approximately 160,000 people have been vaccinated, with the priority being given to front-line workers such as healthcare staff and security personnel.

Making the Public Aware

The Health Ministry has also focused on creating public awareness campaigns to sensitizing people to the danger and reality of Covid-19 and the importance of vaccination. In addition to television and radio public announcements, the ministry has also launched billboard campaigns targeted at hotspots throughout the country. People are being encouraged to take hygiene measures, such as regular washing of hands and wearing proper face masks.

The Role of the Public

It’s essential to understand that everyone has a role to play in combating the virus. People are encouraged to adhere to the health guidelines laid down by the ministry, such as social distancing, wearing masks, and avoiding unnecessary gatherings where possible. If people notice any symptoms of the disease in themselves or their loved ones, they are advised to alert health officials immediately and seek medical attention.

Conclusion

Covid-19 is still a threat, and we must remain vigilant in our efforts to combat this virus. The government has deployed multiple measures to control the spread of the virus. The public also plays a crucial role in the fight against the pandemic. By adhering to the guidelines set out by the Health Ministry, we can stop the spread of this virus. Additionally, by getting vaccinated, we can protect ourselves and those around us from becoming seriously ill. Let us all join hands in fighting this virus and support the implementation of the new measures in controlling the spread of Covid-19.
