Hyperloop, led by Elon Musk, recently announced its first test of the high-speed transportation system, with magnetic levitation used to move people in pods through a vacuum-sealed tubes. While the system works with speeds up to 800 miles per hour, it is still in the testing phase.

Another significant development in transportation occurred in February when Uber took its self-driving cars onto public roads in San Francisco without proper permits. The authorities quickly intervened and Uber suspended the self-driving cars even in Pittsburgh, where they have been operating for months.
