Mono-chronic or the ‘one task at a time’ approach to time is prevalent in high-income industrialized countries, while polychronic time (‘many tasks at the same time’) is common in lower-income countries that have higher levels of uncertainty avoidance and collectivism.

Indulgence-restraint refers to how cultures treat short-term wants and cravings with respect to long-term values and needs. Indulgent cultures allow gratification of desires to some extent, while restraint cultures limit such gratification.
