Understanding also enables us to see the world and the people around us in a different light, with empathy and compassion, leading us to treat all people with love and respect.
An example of the importance of understanding the Scriptures is found in the book of Acts, where the Ethiopian eunuch was reading from Isaiah. When Philip, one of the apostles, questioned him about it, he replied, “How can I unless someone guides me?” (Acts 8:31). Philip used the opportunity to lead him to Christ. This highlights the importance of understanding the Bible and having people who can guide us through it.
Wisdom
Wisdom is the ability to apply knowledge and understanding practically. It is the practical application of understanding in our everyday lives. The Holy Spirit offers wisdom to Christians, enabling them to act wisely in daily life. It empowers us to make decisions that are in line with God’s will, even when the situation seems difficult or unclear.
The book of Proverbs in the Bible is an excellent example of the importance of wisdom. It has several verses that encourage us to seek wisdom and use it to make wise choices. For example, Proverbs 4:7 states that “Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore, get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.” Wisdom allows us to adapt to different situations, make good choices, and follow God’s plan for our lives.
