As human beings, we are all a product of our upbringing, environment, and cultural background. Our identity is shaped based on the values and beliefs instilled in us during childhood. Our cultural identity serves as a guide, informing our thoughts and behaviors, influencing how we interact with people and the world around us. In this blog post, I will share reflections on my personal cultural identity, taking a deep dive into my upbringing and beliefs.

Growing up, I was exposed to diverse cultures. However, my parents’ culture dominated the environment, influencing most of my beliefs and values. Their belief in hard work and respect for elders was instilled in me from an early age. This has made me a highly motivated and responsible individual who understands the importance of respecting authority figures.

Another core cultural value in my upbringing was humility. I was taught never to boast about my achievements and to always remain humble. This has impacted my personality, and I prefer to lead by example, letting my actions speak for me.

In addition, my cultural background has brought about a strong sense of community. I come from a close-knit family where everyone is involved in decision-making. This has been beneficial in my personal and professional life as I seek to foster a collaborative and inclusive environment.

However, my cultural identity has also come with its challenges. I have had to deal with stereotypes and prejudices from people who do not understand my beliefs and values. This has led me to become more self-aware and to appreciate the differences in people.

Moreover, growing up, I was exposed to different religions, which made me appreciate the beauty of diversity. I respect every person’s faith, and I believe that we can all coexist in harmony despite our religious differences.

In conclusion, exploring my cultural identity has enabled me to appreciate my heritage, beliefs and values. It has made me appreciate diversity and has also helped me to navigate the challenges that come with different cultural backgrounds. Knowing that my cultural identity is part of my identity has shaped who I am and has informed how I relate to others. As we interact with people from diverse backgrounds, we should understand that our cultural identity shapes our beliefs, values, and perceptions.\
