Dallas Mourns the Loss of 2 Healthcare Heroes
Dallas, Texas is mourning the loss of two healthcare heroes who recently passed away due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Both of these individuals were on the frontlines of the fight against the virus, risking their lives every day to care for patients and keep our communities safe. Their passing is a tragedy, not just for their families, but for the entire Dallas healthcare community.
One of these heroes was Dr. Joseph Costa, a critical care physician who worked at Baltimore’s Mercy Medical Center before coming to Dallas to work at HCA Healthcare’s Medical City Dallas Hospital. Dr. Costa was described as a selfless and dedicated physician who put his patients first. His colleagues have said that he was always willing to work extra hours and go the extra mile to provide the best possible care for his patients. Dr. Costa’s death is a devastating loss for the entire Medical City Dallas Hospital community.
The other healthcare hero who recently lost her life was Adeline Fagan, a 28-year-old medical resident who was completing her training at HCA Healthcare’s Houston Medical Center. Adeline was originally from New York and had been working in Houston for several years. She contracted the virus during a rotation in a COVID-19 unit and had been hospitalized for several months before passing away. Adeline’s colleagues and friends described her as a compassionate and caring physician who was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
The loss of these two healthcare heroes is a stark reminder of the toll that the COVID-19 pandemic is taking on our communities. Healthcare workers across the country are putting their lives on the line every day to fight this virus, and many are paying the ultimate price. We must continue to support these heroes and provide them with the resources they need to do their jobs safely and effectively.
