As an Institute of Fashion Technology (IFT) student, every day is a new adventure. From the moment I wake up, I know that I am going to spend the day creating something beautiful, something that will inspire and delight others.
In the morning hours, I typically start my day off with a refreshing cup of coffee and a quick scroll through my social media feeds. This gives me the opportunity to catch up on the latest fashion trends and inspiration from around the world. I also take some time to review my coursework and make any necessary adjustments to my projects.
Once I am dressed and ready for the day ahead, I head to my classes. Depending on the day, I may have a lecture on the history of fashion, a studio class where I will be working on my latest project, or a workshop on new techniques or materials.
In each of these classes, I am surrounded by other fashion students who are just as passionate as I am. We work together to share ideas, offer critiques, and collaborate on projects. No matter what we are working on, there is always a sense of teamwork and collaboration that makes the experience so rewarding.
The afternoons are usually filled with more studio work, as well as meetings with professors and fellow students to discuss our progress and brainstorm new ideas. We may be working on our own individual projects, or we may be part of a larger group that is working on a collaborative project.
As the day comes to a close, I am often exhausted but exhilarated. I know that I have spent the day learning and growing as a designer, and that I have been a part of something truly special.
Of course, being an IFT student isn’t all work and no play. We often have social events and exhibitions to attend, allowing us to network with other students, professors, and industry professionals. These events are a great opportunity to showcase our work and get feedback from others in the field.
In summary, a day in the life of an IFT student is challenging, but also incredibly rewarding. It’s a journey that requires passion, dedication, and a willingness to be constantly learning and growing. But for those of us who are lucky enough to pursue our dreams in the world of fashion, it is a journey well worth taking.
