The Nintendo Game Boy was a game-changer for its time, giving us the ability to play video games on the go. Some of us spent countless hours playing Mario, Zelda, and Tetris on the iconic green screen.
3. VHS Players
Before Netflix and other streaming services, video cassette tapes were the main mode of home entertainment. The VHS Player allowed us to watch our favourite movies in the comfort of our homes.
4. Floppy Drive
The floppy disk was the standard way to save and transfer computer files. While its storage capacity was incredibly low by today’s standards, it was considered high tech back then.
5. Dial-up Modems
Connecting to the internet in the 90s was accomplished via a dial-up modem. The screeching sound of the dial-up connection is firmly etched in our memories!
6. Tamagotchi
The virtual pet game, Tamagotchi, was an absolute craze in the 90s. The tiny device required us to feed our digital pet, play with it and take care of it just like a real pet.
7. Polaroid Camera
Taking pictures with regular cameras meant waiting to develop the film before you got to see the pictures. The Polaroid camera, however, automatically developed the photograph on the spot.
8. Blockbuster Video
Before Netflix and other streaming services, we had to go to Blockbuster to rent our favourite movies and games. The store was enormous, with endless rows of video-cassettes and game titles to choose from.
9. Pager
While pagers were more commonly used by adults, they still hold a special place in our hearts. Pagers allowed us to send and receive text messages, which was a big deal at the time.
10. Laser-Disc Player
The Laser-Disc Player was quite technologically advanced for its time. The Laser-Disc format offered better visual and audio quality compared to VHS, and it was also a popular way to watch movies.
