Exploring the World Again: My 5-day Travel Experience after COVID Lockdown
After months of staying at home and adhering to lockdown rules, I recently took a 5-day trip to explore a nearby city. It was my first trip after the COVID pandemic and it was quite an experience. Here are a few things that stood out:
1. Precautions are now a part of traveling
Traveling was not the same as it used to be before the pandemic. There were checkpoints at different locations and temperature checks at the airport. Additionally, we were required to wear masks at all times and maintain social distancing.
2. The streets were quiet
One of the most noticeable changes from my previous trips was the silence that the city was enveloped in. With the pandemic, there are very few travelers, and the tourist attractions had a handful of visitors. It was a stark contrast from the busy streets and crowded tourist spots that I had been used to before.
3. Reduced services in hotels and restaurants
The hotels and restaurants were open, but the services provided were quite different. There was no buffet service as the hotel staff had to serve the food. Additionally, the restaurants had fewer seats to maintain social distancing, and the menu was limited.
4. Different cultural immersion
Traveling during the COVID pandemic meant that there was less exposure to the culture of the locals. It was because tourist spots that had cultural immersion were closed or had reduced their activities. However, I was able to experience a different kind of culture, one that respected the idea of safety and precautions.
5. Nature was fresher and cleaner
One of the most noticeable changes around me was nature and the natural resources. The air was fresher and cleaner, and the water at the beach was clearer due to the reduced human activity. It was a silver lining amidst the pandemic.
In conclusion, my trip during these COVID times was a unique experience. Though the situation was quite different from the times before the pandemic, I was grateful that I could travel again after months of being at home. However, it also came with new rules and regulations that needed to be adhered to.
