While stamped Batik is quicker to create, hand-drawn Batik is considered more valuable and is often reserved for high-end pieces.

Certain regions of the country are known for their specific styles, such as the Batik from Solo, Java, which features highly intricate designs with detailed motifs. Another popular style is Javanese Batik, which incorporates images of nature and animals.
