As a third-grader, I remember looking forward to each day of school. But there was one day in particular that I couldn’t wait for: the day when we would go on a field trip to the zoo. I didn’t know what to expect, but I knew it was going to be a magnificent day. The morning of the trip, I got dressed in my favorite clothes and set off to school, eager to learn about the animals and habitats we would see.
The Field Trip
As we arrived at the zoo, I was overwhelmed by the number of animals that were before us. I saw beautiful peacocks strutting their stuff, lions pacing, and monkeys swinging from tree to tree. I couldn’t keep my eyes off of them. Our teacher led us from one exhibit to another, and I was fascinated by everything. The elephants, giraffes, and tigers seemed larger than life, and I was in awe of them.
My Close Encounter with a Monkey
As we were walking around the zoo, one of the monkeys caught my attention. It was a small monkey with a mischievous look in its eyes. I couldn’t stop staring at it. Suddenly, the monkey jumped down from the branch and onto the ground. I was thrilled but a bit scared at the same time. The monkey walked towards us, seemed to eye me, and then it climbed up my leg. I was shocked and scared and didn’t know what to do. But before I could react, another teacher came and gently took the monkey off of me. It was my first close encounter with a wild animal, and it was an unforgettable experience for me.
