New Jersey may be a small state, but it’s packed full of hidden gems waiting to be discovered. As a local, I have had the pleasure of exploring these lesser-known spots that tourists often miss. Here, I will share some of my favorite hidden gems in New Jersey that you should add to your bucket list!

First on the list is The Stickley Museum in Morris Plains. This historic site was the former home of Gustav Stickley, the founder of the American Arts and Crafts Movement. Visitors are transported back in time as they explore the beautiful architecture and furnishings of the early 20th century. It’s a perfect place for history buffs and interior design enthusiasts alike.

Next up is The Papermill Playhouse in Millburn. This theatre is a cultural gem in the state and a great place to catch Broadway productions without breaking the bank. The Papermill is also home to its own theatre school, where aspiring actors and actresses can train under industry-leading professionals.

For the nature enthusiast, Duke Farms in Hillsborough is a must-visit. The expansive nature reserve offers miles of pristine hiking and biking trails, as well as stunning gardens and wildlife sightings. A unique feature of the farm is the sustainable energy element, including a solar field and geothermal wells.

Foodies shouldn’t miss the Trenton Farmers Market in Trenton. The market offers a vast selection of fresh produce, meats, cheeses, and baked goods from local farmers and artisans. It’s a great place to experience the flavors of New Jersey and support local businesses in the process.

If you’re looking for something off-beat and quirky, The Silverball Museum Arcade in Asbury Park is not to be missed. The arcade is home to vintage pinball machines and classic arcade games, providing a nostalgic experience for the young and old alike.

Closing off the list is Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton. This outdoor sculpture park features over 270 sculptures by both national and international artists. The park is also home to beautiful gardens and a rotating collection of contemporary art.

In summary, New Jersey has more to offer than just the popular tourist attractions. These hidden gems provide a unique and exciting experience for locals and visitors alike. Add them to your list of must-see places and uncover the wonders of New Jersey.
