Exploring Kerala: Photos and Information from Our Mission Trip

If you’re looking to explore a new and beautiful location, Kerala is one of the most sought after travel destinations in India. With a mix of history, nature, culture, and food, Kerala has something for everyone. During our mission trip to Kerala, we were blown away by the state’s natural beauty and rich culture. In this article, we’ll share our experiences, photos, and information about this stunning part of India.

Kovalam Beach

Our journey started at Kovalam Beach, located in the town of Thiruvananthapuram. The beach is famous for its pristine waters and breathtaking views. We spent a relaxing afternoon soaking up the sun and taking in the sights. The beach is also known for Ayurvedic massages, which we highly recommend.

Backwaters of Alleppey

Alleppey is known as the Venice of the East. It’s famous for its backwaters, which are a network of canals, lagoons, and lakes that run parallel to the Arabian Sea. We took a houseboat and cruised along the backwaters at a leisurely pace, taking in the lush green landscape and seeing the day-to-day life of the local people. The houseboat was equipped with all modern amenities and served delicious local cuisine.

Tea plantations of Munnar

Munnar is a hill station located in the Western Ghats. The main attraction here is the sprawling tea plantations that cover the hillsides. We visited the Tata Tea Museum, which offered a glimpse into the history of tea cultivation in the region. The museum also has a tea tasting session, where we got to sample teas of different varieties.

Cuisine of Kerala

Kerala is known for its unique cuisine, which is a blend of local spices and flavors. We tried several local dishes, including appam, puttu, and kadala curry. The food is a must-try for anyone visiting Kerala.

Culture and Festivals

Kerala has a rich cultural heritage, which is evident in its festivals and traditions. We were lucky to visit during Onam, which is Kerala’s biggest festival. We witnessed the Onam Sadhya, which is a grand feast served on banana leaves. It was a truly immersive experience, and we felt like we were part of the local community.

Conclusion

Kerala is a wonderland full of beautiful sights, delicious cuisine, and rich culture. From the beautiful beaches to pristine backwaters, Kerala is a must-see destination for anyone who loves nature and adventure. The state has something for everyone, from nature lovers to foodies and culture enthusiasts. If you’re looking for a unique travel experience, add Kerala to your bucket list.
