Exploring Different Traditions and Customs on Culture Day: A Personal Journey

As a society, we are becoming more and more accepting and curious about other cultures and traditions. In fact, it’s something that we relish when given the chance to explore. Culture Day is one such personal journey that gives us a sense of belonging, adventure and most importantly, an insight into the diversity of the human race.

Culture Day celebrates the diversity that exists in the world. Many different kinds of traditions and customs are celebrated, and one can learn about everything from holidays to food customs. This day opens up an opportunity to learn about new customs and traditions that bring joy to various societies.

The first cultural society that comes to mind is the Chinese community. The most famous holiday celebrated in the Chinese community is the Lunar New Year, and one of the most traditional foods enjoyed during this time is rice dumplings. Culture day provides an opportunity to learn about other such traditions and customs that might otherwise be unfamiliar.

One can learn about the customs of the Indian community, for example. The centre of Indian tradition revolves around family, hospitality and warmth. The elaborate weddings, vibrant colors, and extravagant foods are a part of the Indian culture that showcases unity and love.

Another culture that draws curiosity is the Japanese culture. Traditional Japanese clothing known as the Kimono, is what defines a culture that puts side the famous sushi and tea ceremonies. The way of living in peace, harmony and respect towards others is something that we can learn from the Japanese.

Many customs that we celebrate in the western world have been borrowed from other cultures as well, and we may not be aware of it. Christmas, for example, has its roots in pagan traditions that were absorbed into Christian beliefs. Hence exploring different cultures and traditions can be enlightening and insightful.

In conclusion, exploring different traditions and customs on Culture Day is an enjoyable and enlightening way to learn about the diversity of our world. Different societies have different ways of living, thinking, and interacting, and understanding these differences can bring us all closer together. It’s essential to remember that all cultures should be respected and celebrated, so that we can all learn from each other and continue to grow as a global community.
